History: 816Day is Kansas City's official celebration of all things great in Kansas City! What started as a simple idea in 2015 has now become one of KC's largest anticipated annual events. 816Day grew from a small labor of love, by creator Brian "Bizzy" Benton, to a city-wide celebration. KC continues to “show up and show out” with thousands attending 816Day the past few years. The love has grown from a 1,200 sq ft venue to a ½ mile block party full of local vendors and entertainment in the historic 18th and Vine Jazz District. Now, 7 years after the official proclamation, the celebration continues in the mecca of KC’s entertainment spaces, the Power and Light District.
The Mission: 816Day benefits the community by allowing businesses an opportunity to give back to the citizens of Kansas City while generating traffic from new patrons. 816Day provides a platform where creatives and small business owners from the 816-area code can showcase their talent. Our goal is to create a diverse platform for all people from the 816-area code regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, background or sexual orientation.
